Water productivity

Water productivity is harvest kilograms per cubic metre of irrigation water, week by week.

The Irrigation page in the app: daily irrigation litres with drain and water source for the demo cycle.
Water productivity comes from this table and the harvests by week.

How it is computed

water_kg_per_m3 = that week's harvest kilograms ÷ (that week's irrigation litres ÷ 1000).

It is set only when the week has both a harvest above 0 and irrigation above 0. Otherwise it is empty. It is on the week read and in the CSV export, next to irrigation_l and drain_l.

Reading it

  • It uses the water applied, not the water taken up. Drain is logged and exported alongside, but is not subtracted.
  • It compares the harvest and irrigation of the same week, while the water that grew those fruit was given weeks earlier. Use it for trends over a season, not week-to-week swings.
  • Log irrigation for the same row area as the harvest, so the ratio covers the same plants.
  • Logging the water source (desalinated, condensate, well, other) lets you compare sources in the export.
