Set up your first crop cycle

A crop cycle is where walks, harvests, irrigation, and readings are saved. The Setup page creates the farm, greenhouse, row, and cycle in one form.

The Setup page in the app. On the left, the Create a crop cycle form with farm, greenhouse, house type, time zone, latitude, longitude, row, crop cycle, cultivar, and a planting date calendar. On the right, the organization tree with the demo farm, greenhouse, row, and cycle, each with Edit and Delete buttons.
The Setup page at /app/setup: the form on the left, the organization on the right.

Fill in the form

  1. Open Setup in the app's top bar (/app/setup). The form is Create a crop cycle.
  2. Give each level an id and a name. Ids use letters, digits, dot, underscore, or hyphen, and they can't be changed later. Names and details can.
  3. Pick the house type: plastic, shade, cooled, or closed HVAC. The forecast uses it to estimate indoor temperature from outdoor weather.
  4. Add a latitude and longitude to turn on the weather refresh for this greenhouse. Both or neither.
  5. Pick the time zone of your climate export. Type part of a city name, such as Paris, to search the list. Times without an offset are read in this zone.
  6. Optionally add the row area in m², the cultivar, and the planting date from the calendar, then choose Create crop cycle.

A farm, greenhouse, or row that already exists is reused, so you can add a second cycle to the same row with the same form. The new cycle appears in the organization tree on the right.

Save a walk to the cycle

Once the organization has a cycle, the Walk page shows Save the upload to a crop cycle. Choose the cycle, and a week picker appears under it, set to this week. A saved walk counts toward that week's summary and forecast. "Score only, do not save" scores it without touching the registry.

Next steps

Read the filming guide before the first real walk, and log harvests as they come in. The forecast needs harvest weeks to learn how much of the row a walk sees.
