Scale, photos, and modes
Sizes need a scale, a video needs sampling settings, and an aisle needs the right mode. These are the settings under Capture settings on the Walk, Film a walk, and Clips pages. The choice stays for the next upload.
Scale: calibration board or millimetres per pixel
Print the board so that each square measures 40 mm, and check it with a ruler. Hold it flat in the frame at the depth of the fruit. DeepLeaf Yield finds it on the first scored frame and sets millimetres per pixel from the distance between neighbouring corners.
Or type Millimetres per pixel yourself. A typed number always wins over a board. With neither, sizes stay in pixels and no fruit mass is measured.
The scale holds only at the board's depth. Fruit nearer the camera read larger and fruit further away read smaller. See Sizes and fruit weight for how the walk mean handles that.
Photo or video
- Photo: one frame, scored as it is. JPG, PNG, WebP, and BMP work.
- Video: MP4, MOV, M4V, AVI, MKV, and WebM work. DeepLeaf Yield samples one frame every Seconds between scored frames (default 1) up to Frames to score, at most (default 12, at most 60), then links fruit and stems across frames so each fruit is counted once.
One upload is capped at 1024 MB. Video frames are decoded with the clip's own colour settings, so the same clip always scores the same.
Aisle or one row
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
one_row | One row fills the frame. One counting line. |
aisle | Two rows, one on each side of the aisle. Scores the left half and the right half, then joins them, with two counting lines. |
auto (default) | Picks aisle only when a pale lane of floor has stems on both sides. Otherwise one row. |
For forecasting, filming one side of the aisle per pass in one_row (or auto) gives larger fruit and more ripeness labels than fitting two rows into one frame.
