Film and log your first week
With a crop cycle in place, one week of use is: film the row, save the walk to the cycle, and log the harvest.
1. Try an example first
Open Walk, then Examples in the strip under the title (/app/walk/examples). Pick one of the six example photos to see what a result looks like before filming your own. Each example counts as a walk.
2. Film the row
Follow the filming guide: phone level at the height of the lowest ripe trusses, 0.5 to 1 m from the row, a slow walk along one side of the aisle. On a phone, Film a walk (/app/walk/film) records in the app with a live check on distance and focus.
3. Upload and save it to the cycle
- On the Walk page, in Save the upload to a crop cycle, choose your cycle.
- A week picker appears, set to this week. Use the arrows for the previous or next week, or open the calendar and pick any day; the whole ISO week is chosen.
- Choose or drop the video or photo, then Score this file.
The score opens at its own address, /app/jobs/ followed by its id, so you can bookmark it or share it with someone in your organization.
One aisle in several clips
If you filmed the row as several clips, open Clips (/app/walk/clips) and choose the cycle and the week first.
- Choose Add clips and pick the clips. Clips added together are listed by file name, which is usually the order they were filmed.
- Check the order. Move a clip with its up and down arrows, or remove it with the cross. Up to 12 clips make one walk, and each clip stays under the usual upload size limit.
- Choose Score clips as one walk. Each clip shows its own progress.
The clips are scored in that order into one walk record, so the week and the forecast see one walk and it counts as one walk on your plan. A fruit is followed within a clip, never across the cut between two clips. If one clip can't be read, the whole batch stops with that clip's name and number, and it doesn't count; replace or remove that clip and upload again. Every clip needs the same resolution.
Scoring takes a moment per sampled frame. When it finishes, check the capture check at the top of the results. A warning means the counts for this walk are less reliable.
No signal in the greenhouse
If the upload cannot reach DeepLeaf Yield, the walk is not lost. It is kept on the phone under Waiting to upload, with its size, the time it was filmed, and a remove button, and it uploads on its own when the connection returns. Upload now sends it straight away. A retry never makes a second walk, and the walk counts once. If the session has ended by then, sign in again and the upload carries on. For filming offline and adding the app to the home screen on iPhone and Android, see Filming guide.
4. Log the harvest
When the week's pick is weighed, open Records, then Harvests (/app/records/harvests), and choose Log harvest: the week and the kilograms. See Harvests, irrigation, readings. Logging irrigation too gives you water productivity.
5. Read the forecast
The Forecast page (/app/forecast) shows this week and the next two for the chosen cycle. It improves as walk weeks and harvest weeks pair up, because DeepLeaf Yield learns how many kilograms each ripe fruit on your walk stands for. See How the forecast works, and How far to trust the forecast once a few harvests are in.
